Chief Architect and Founder
For Frank, architecture is not just his life’s journey and intrinsic to who he is, it is in his bloodline. Frank is the great grandnephew of Rosario Candela, the prominent New York City architect whose prewar residential designs featuring terraced setbacks and signature penthouses are still sought after by New York City’s elite. His lineage comes from both sides, as Candela’s mother was also a Pizzurro. This explains Frank’s innate eye for design and construction, which was ignited early on during a family trip to Montelepre, Sicily, the birthplace of both his father and his great uncle. Frank marveled at how the rules of science in building these great cathedrals overlapped with art, and his fascination grew into a passion. By the age of 15 he was committed to pursuing a career in architecture and interior design.
Frank was educated at Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and earned a Bachelor in Architecture and Fine Arts from RISD. He immediately joined one of New York City’s most prominent architecture firms, and for the next 15 years worked with some of the most highly regarded architects in the business. There he gained experience as the architect and manager for numerous residential and commercial projects, including household names such as Merrill Lynch, Sheraton and UBS.
In his last corporate job, Frank worked on rebuilding the Word Financial Center after the World Trade Center fell in 2001. This involvement in the recovery of New York, along with his previous experience, gave him the courage and credibility to form Frank Pizzurro, Jr. Architects, which would later expand to include Interiors and Consulting.
Today, Frank Pizzurro Architects is regarded for its expertise in historic preservation and landmark consulting. Frank is intimately familiar with the design and style of Rosario Candela’s neo-classical limestones as well as Greek Revival, Tudor, Gothic, and others used in the historic buildings of New York City. This knowledge of historical decorative styles with his expertise in preservation requirements and ability to restore and add on to landmark properties in a way that honors their original splendor have earned him numerous prominent restoration projects.
Frank is a member of the conservation board in the landmark town of Bedford in Westchester, where he lives with his family. His architectural offices are located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan and Westchester, convenient to his clients.
In contrast to typical architecture firms that operate under a strict hierarchy, our team members are involved in all aspects of their assigned projects, from conception to completion. This not only helps our employees in their professional development, giving them hands-on experience in how designs become reality, it also offers project continuity that leads to client satisfaction. With a single, knowledgeable point of contact, projects move quicker, with better communication among all parties. We believe in giving people the opportunity to apply their talents, and in doing so, deliver a higher-quality, more well-rounded product.
FPA operates in a team atmosphere where people are encouraged to express their ideas, take full advantage of team resources, and work to their strengths. We actively buck the feudalistic structure of large corporate firms, creating an environment where people can continuously learn while applying their talents to create something bigger than themselves.
If you are interested in joining a team that strives, as a whole, to build FPA into an award-winning firm that is renowned for transforming vision into reality, we’d like to hear from you. Please send your resume to email@example.com.
Frank Pizzurro, Jr. Architecture, Interiors & Consulting PC is a passionate team whose mission is to transform your architectural requests and requirements into reality.
We have been delighting clients in the greater New York area since 2002 with our in-depth knowledge of architecture, style and décor coupled with the legal knowledge of both state and municipality code requirements that ensure our designs are buildable. Click on the grey bars to get more information.
Our traditional, full-scope architectural services include everything you need to make your vision a reality, from the initial programming and budgetary phases to schematic and design developments, legal construction documents, bidding and negotiation with contractors, and finally construction administration through project completion. This includes “all of the above” consultations, design services and revisions, drawings and renderings, licensing and municipality permitting, and required inspections and sign-offs. We bring not just an artistic vision but legal professional knowledge of both state and municipality code requirements. For our clients’ convenience we also offer project management services, so you are dealing with one contact from start to finish.
During our initial consultation we listen for what you would like to accomplish with your space and offer suggestions that will help you achieve your goals. Your final deliverable is a concept and design schematic drawing or perspective rendering that fits your needs and meets your budget. In addition, we can provide a detailed program summary and step-by step-outline of architectural and engineering criteria for your new project. Our conceptual plans and spreadsheets give you exactly what you need to take to the lender in order for them to establish an accurate appraisal and escrow account for renovation.
It is often helpful to have a visual representation of the project you are considering before contracting for technical diagrams or construction. Our photo-realistic, 3-dimensional color renderings will show you a viable concept and aesthetic, capturing proportion, scale and finishes of the proposed design in its surrounding environment. Your 3-D color rendering will give you visualization of what your space will look like in advance of making a significant investment. This service can be performed remotely for our out-of-state and international clients.
Sometimes upgrades made in the past were not filed for properly or were not included in the Certificate of Occupancy. These renovations must be reviewed by a licensed architect to ensure they are up to code before a real estate sale occurs. This is both a legal requirement for a bank to appraise the property and a desirable step for sellers to receive full value for their improved real estate. We will review your space and sign and seal that it is compliant or, if it needs adjustments, we will document what is needed to remediate violations and bring your building/apartment up to code. We can also take care of all the changes necessary for code compliance through our full-service architectural and construction management services.
Frank Pizzurro, Jr. Architecture, Interiors, & Consulting PC serves as a 3rd-party subject matter expert to verify that renovation plans submitted to managing agents and boards are in compliance with applicable rules, by-laws and lease contracts. As auditors we are impartial representatives of the board or managing agent.
Our Historic Architectural Preservation and Restoration consulting service is our strongest professional practice area.
We will give you important insights, recommendations and, when required, detailed schematics & perspectives for a complete design that adheres to the proper historical architecture and community regulations while incorporating modern building codes. We are passionate about preserving the historic culture and style of buildings and are experts in Italian & French Renaissance, Art deco and other pre-war architecture. We will provide thoroughly researched explanations of how these styles fit into specific Manhattan neighborhoods. Our professional consultation will educate you on your special space and give you an appropriate vision and technique on how best to keep your ideas and improvements within the historical aesthetics, all in the spirit of the original architect’s intentions.
We have worked with some of the most conservative co-op and condominium boards as well as the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission on a significant number of prestigious, Manhattan addresses.

Often it is easier and more efficient to deal with a single point of contact throughout every phase of the project. This eliminates the disconnect that occurs when there are separate design, architectural and construction entities involved. We are licensed and insured as a contractor and project manager. With this hassle-free service, you can leave the vetting and hiring of subcontractors to us. We work with all parties—engineers, architects, builders, co-op/condo boards, and managing agents—to create a realistic timeline, ensure compliance with bylaws and terms of occupancy, and deal with any surprises that may arise during demolition.
There is a fine line between where building architecture stops and interior design begins. Frank Pizzurro Architects, Interiors & Consulting PC makes sure they go hand-in-hand for consistent style. With a thoroughly catalogued interior design library in our New York office and interior design specialists on staff, we have the resources to provide you with the unique hardware, furnishings, finishes and décor that complement your design theme and honor the architecture which surrounds it. You may contract with us for either full-scope architecture and interior design or choose individual and select services.
